Each year, our School Board hosts a reception honoring the top academic seniors in Okaloosa County. Typically, 1,500 students, parents and friends join together in celebration of academic excellence at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College. Regrettably, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event had to be canceled this year. However, I am pleased to announce that this special group is being honored in a unique way this year with a two-page spread in the Northwest Florida Daily News.

FLDOE Outstanding Volunteer Award Winners Named

365体育投注The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) recently announced the 2019-2020 Outstanding School Volunteer Award winners. This annual award is presented to school volunteers who have exhibited an exceptional commitment to enhancing quality instruction for Florida’s K-12 students. Winners are awarded in three categories — youth, adult, and senior — in each of Florida’s five reporting districts.

Shalimar ES and Meigs MS Archery Program State Champions

The Archery Teams from Meigs Middle School and Shalimar Elementary School were recognized during the April 13th School Board meeting for each winning the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Championship in their school's divisions. Georgia Pierce, a fourth-grader at Shalimar Elementary School, was also the winner of the 4th Grade Girls State Archery Division.

Cade Kootsouradis, Crestview HS, Recognized for being Named All Sports Association Male Scholastic Winner

Crestview High School senior Cade Kootsouradis was recognized at the April 13th365体育投注 School Board Meeting for being selected the All Sports Association’ 2020 Male Scholastic winner. Cade is a dual-sport athlete – a four-year letterman in both football and baseball. At the beginning of football season, Cade was one of the “Dandy Dozen” athletes selected for recognition by the Northwest Florida Daily News.

Dawn Pack, DMS, and Meredith Coleman, Northwood ES, Named Hurlburt AFA’s Teachers of the Year

Dawn Pack Destin Middle School, and Meredith Coleman, Northwood Elementary School, were recently named the Air Force Association (AFA), Hurlburt Chapter #398, 2020 Teachers of the Year.

365体育投注The purpose of the annual AFA award program is to recognize classroom teachers at the chapter, state, and national level for their accomplishments and achievements in exciting K-12 students about science, technology, and math (STEM) and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow’s technologies.

Niceville HS Boys Soccer Recognized for Winning Class 6A Boys Soccer State Championships

The Niceville High School Boys Soccer team was recognized during the April 13th School Board meeting for winning the Class 6A Boys Soccer State Championships held in Deland, Florida in late February.

The team finished the season with a 25-0-2 Record, 102 Goals Scored, 22 Goals Allowed, and 15 Shutouts. They are the first soccer team to have an undefeated season in school history, the fourth time in school history making it to the Final Four, first time making it to the state final game, and first State Championship.
